If you happen to have a purse, umbrella, bag, etc., don’t be afraid to use it to deter your attacker.
Obviously throwing these things at your attacker or hitting them with these things may not stop them. The thing is you want to try to do anything you can to prevent them from attacking you further. Never forget that your belongings are not nearly as important as your life. Don’t be afraid to give up any belongings to protect your life.
Everything can be a weapon if it really needs to be. You can use your shoe to fend off the attacker, a stick on the side of the street, or really any object around you at the time your being attacked. In this scenario, you just have to do whatever you need to in order to get out of the situation safely.
Try to Get the Attention of Those Around You
If you are in a public place and someone tries to attack you, it is always a good idea to try to make noise or get the attention of those around you so that it draws attention to the attacker. The attacker does not want to get caught, therefore, if you get the attention of others, the attacker will realize they have a higher chance of getting in trouble.
If you happen to have a rape whistle and are able to get a hold of it, that is a great way to get others attention. If you don’t have one, just do anything that you can whether that is screaming or banging on whatever is around you to make a loud noise. If someone walks up on a situation where you are getting attacked, that could be what saves your life.
A personal alarm is another great idea for self-defense and to get the attention of other people around you if you are being attacked. Luckily, you can easily keep the alarm on a keychain, connected to your purse or connected to your belt.
There are also now some apps that can be used that do the same thing. If you press a button it will make a high sound or immediately call the police. Now, it may not be an option to get ahold of your phone in this situation. If this is something that you are interested in buying, then you should do the research to figure out what type of personal alarm is best for you.
The point of these alarms is so that you can press the button anytime you know that something is wrong or that you are in danger.
Punching an attacker
Punching is typically one of the first instincts that you may have when it comes to defending yourself. There are many different punches that you could use against attackers. One type of punch that is good for self- defense is just a straight jab to the face or stomach.
When making a “normal fist”, you want your thumb to be tucked because that means you will be protecting your thumb from getting broken. The main problem with punching is that if you aren’t experienced, you could easily hurt yourself as well.
If you punch hard and incorrectly, you could break your fingers or even your hand. Obviously, if you are involved in a dangerous situation, your hand is not as important as your life. Injuring your hand is fine if you save yourself, but ultimately you want to come out of the situation unharmed in general.
Another punching technique used to fight off attackers would be the hammer fist. This technique of punching could also be called the hammer strike.
This punch is when your fist is swung downwards towards the attacker. This punch can be demonstrated on any part of the attacker’s body. Some examples of where to punch your attacker using this punching style would be the face, throat, stomach, etc. This type of strike is easy to learn and allows for less damage to your fingers.
This is just one example of how easy it can be to learn some of the basic punching techniques used in different martial arts and self-defense.
The rear cross is one more punch that can be learned quickly and somewhat easily. The rear cross punching technique is when you use the rear hand to throw a punch.
All of these punches can generate a ton of power if done properly. If you were in a bad situation, your adrenaline would be pumping anyway so use that energy to deliver powerful and forceful punches against your attackers.
Everyone needs to carry pepper spray with them for anything that could happen, Pepper spray is the great equalizer if someone tries to attack you.
The mixture in the spray will drop you to the ground in pain. Your eyes and nose will water for hours. This stuff is horrible and I know because I was pepper sprayed in college when I stormed the football field after a big win. A random policeman was going around spraying everyone. That sucked!
A stun gun is something else you can carry but you need to check your local laws. Many cities and states do not allow you to use these for protection.
Make it Known that You Aren’t an “Easy” Target
Attackers do not want to get caught. They want to successfully get what they want out of you without anyone ever knowing. They are looking for someone who they think will not fight back and will easy to subdue. They do not want someone who fights back and makes it hard for them to accomplish their goals.
It is weird to think about what is going on in an attackers head, but if you do think about it, it could help you stop them or get out of the situation. If you do get into a situation like this, fight back as hard as you can and make it difficult for your attacker to control you. Do not give up and continue to fight.
Do not get abducted and go to a second location. You will probably die at the second location so it is better to fight where you are at even if you still get killed. Sorry to be so real about it but I am hoping this will save somebody’s life one day.
There could be some cases where they could simply run away after realizing that you aren’t an easy target and you could be the person to cause them to get caught. Never underestimate the power of showing your strength and resilience. You can protect yourself and get out of these situations, but you have to believe that you can. No matter what your size or strength is you have the power and knowledge to defend yourself.
I was watching the news and a residential camera caught a woman jogging on the sidewalk. Out of nowhere a van showed up and parked near the jogger. The male jumped out and tried to grab the women to put her in the van.
She fought back doing everything she could from kicking, punching and screaming. This was also in the middle of the day. The older owner of the yard that she had run into when the guy came after her, came out of his house yelling at the guy.
The guy gave up and jumped back into his van to drive away. The police caught up with him later to arrest him for attempted kidnapping.
The lady I saw in the video did not know any self-defense just by the way she was wildly throwing punches and fighting back. If she had her pepper spray ready or knew some techniques she could have defended herself better. She did a great job fighting him off to live another day. You just never know when you may need more skills to stop an attacker.
Overall there are many different ways that you can fight off attackers. There are so many different techniques in martial arts and self-defense that can be used against attackers. There are also many different things you can do to protect yourself if you have no knowledge of self-defense or martial arts.
Just remember to use anything that you have on you or see around you to safely get yourself out of the situation. None of your belongings are going to end up being more important than your safety, so don’t be afraid to give up your nice things to get away or use them as weapons.
Along with this, try your hardest to get others attention if there is anyone around. The attacker does not want to get caught, so they do not want other people to see what they are doing. Carry pepper spray with you to use as an equalizer.
